Romans 5 – Word Cloud

May 24, 2013

This morning I was reading Romans 5… and as I was reflecting on it I thought to create a word cloud from the chapter… and this is it.

The chapter talks of being made right with God by faith in Gods perfect gift, Christ Jesus… it talks of peace, it talks of undeserved privilege… to be able to stand… in confidence… in joyful hope.

And it goes on… we will experience troubles.

Faith is tested… tried… weighed…  as you would a precious metal or jewel.

Tested faith endures… develops strength of character… strengthens hope… Love wins.

I know of many people going through troubles at this time… to them (and to myself) I say “stay with it”… endure… let God develop in you the character he wants to draw out… come to His promised peace… a deeper relationship in Him.

Let the creator make you… let Him sign you as His own work…

And be sure of this… God is Love, God loves you (he sent His Son for you be in right relationship with Him), and He has given us His Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love.

Hold to your faith in Him.

Grace and peace.

Lectio – Ephesians 3:16-21

June 12, 2012

Ephesians 3 & 4 have been coming around again and again recently for me, and I thought I’d like to share passages that have spoken to me with you.

The first of these is Ephesians 3:16-21 where Paul prays for the church, for increasing spiritual wisdom and also for spiritual maturity.

This passage has a lot in in and it is well worth taking time to really think about it. reflecting on what God is saying about himself, what he is saying about the church, and what he is saying to you directly.  Please take the time and wait in this passage, let it minister to you today…

Ephesians 3:16-21

16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

In Christ Jesus

February 19, 2012

This morning I got to share at Kings Fellowship in Inverness some thoughts on being In Christ Jesus.

You can get to listen to the talk here on the Kings Fellowship website…

Ephesians 5

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.

7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

We used an illustration with four folks from the congregation to show the relationship in the Trinity, the death and resurrection of Christ…

Ephesians 2:6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

And how we are united with Christ… in ministry.. in love and service…

John 17:20-23:

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. 22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. 24 Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

We finished by reading out some of the promises of God, declaring them over eachother:

  • I have been adopted as God’s child
  • I can approach God with freedom and confidence
  • I am seated with Christ in the Heavenly Realms
  • I cannot be separated from the Love of God
  • I am a citizen of Heaven
  • I am hidden with Christ in God
  • I have been redeemed and forgiven for all my sins
  • I am God’s Child
  • I have been chosen and appointed by God
  • I can do all things In Christ Jesus

Lectio – Romans 5

Romans 5

Faith Brings Joy

1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

I was reading over this passage on 1st December and was deeply moved by it… let it be a blessing to you as well.

Grace and peace.

Another thought on Engaging the Present Moment…

December 6, 2011

View from my home at 8am

While shovelling snow from my drive this morning I spent some time pondering what Engaging in the Present Moment was meaning for me at this moment.  And this was still what was on my mind as I read an article later on the “Top Five Regrets of the Dying” by Bronnie Ware, and its story is similar to the book “Final Gifts”.

Much of the article concerns the themes living in the moment… about spontaneity, love & relationships…

But as regrets at the end of life.

We were made to live, not merely exist; we were made for relationship, not separation; for love, not loneliness.  And to live, relate and love in the moment not to put it off ‘until’… but now.

The final sentence sums it up well…

“Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.”

I love being in snow… and this morning it was even more special.  The thought , and action, that at that moment I could consciously choose to hear and listen to God, to practice being in His presence filled the time with joy for me.

And I hope that today will be a time for you to engage in the present moment in Him. To know life to it fullest.
